Meet Katie
Katherine Marr Burton, MA., CCC-SLP, aka “Miss Katie”, is a dedicated and compassionate speech-language pathologist. She maintains the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) Certification of Clinical Competence. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences with a Minor in Vocal Performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Northern Illinois University.
Katie’s clinical training and professional experiences include Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital, private clinics, rehabilitation hospitals, schools, and early intervention services.
Committed to providing the most effective, evidence-based practices for the children and families she serves, Katie has completed extensive advanced clinical training, including: PROMPT, DTTC, LAMP, SOS Approach to Feeding, Natural Language Acquisition (NLA).
Katie is highly skilled in supporting children with:

phonological and articulation disorders

literacy challenges, phonological awareness, foundations for reading
pediatric feeding disorders
Katie also specializes in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and gestalt language processing, and is passionate about providing neurodiversity-affiriming speech therapy to autistic individuals. She primarily specializes in the birth to 6 population.
Katie loves to incorporate music into her sessions. Her therapy is effective and FUN with a primary emphasis on relationship building with children and their families. Katie loves to help families develop a better understanding of their child’s unique gifts and talents.
